Merry Christmas from Peer Business Consulting

Christmas is a great time to reflect on the past year – the highs, the lows, the accomplishments, the setbacks.

Peer Business Consulting is now two (and a quarter) years old, so we’re officially no longer a “startup”. We’re still going strong, despite some setbacks in the latter part of the year.

I learned a few personal lessons this year in my journey as business owner-entrepreneur-consultant-manager-blogger and would like to share them with you today, as we finish up for 2016:

1. Family comes first – always.

I had a few family issues this year, which just highlighted the need to treasure our moments together and make the most of the time we have on this beautiful planet. It’s the relationships that give our lives true value. So we should always prioritise them.

2. Sometimes you just can’t do it all – and that’s OK.

Life just keeps getting busier and there are expectations that we’re supposed to always keep it together and just deal with it all. To keep juggling those balls – family, career, relationships – and manage to stay interesting and relevant and fun at the same time. Well, sometimes it’s OK to drop a few balls. Or to stop juggling altogether. Get off that merry-go-round and take a breath. Often. As much as you need to.

3. Just ask.

Don’t suffer in silence. There’s usually help around the corner – in the form of a friend, partner or business expert – so make sure you reach out to them rather than suffering alone.

4. A setback is a setback but get up and keep going.

So when you’ve had your breather(s), get up and get going again. Make sure you don’t stay down. No-one ever achieved their dreams by standing still. Make a plan, make a list and get (re)started.

Big thanks to all our clients, partners and suppliers for another great year. You’re the reason we’re here – we couldn’t do this without you. We’ve got some great plans for 2017, which we’ll share with you in coming months.

I wish all our readers a happy, safe and blessed Christmas and a fun and fabulous New Year. Here’s to 2017, which I’ve already decided is going to be amazing!
